MAT Update 04-10-19
The seven schools in South Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust are to be transferred to new trusts.
The three trusts being considered by the Department for Education (DfE) are all strong, successful and well-run, and have track records of always working in the best interests of the children and young people they serve.
Over the past month the DfE has been reviewing a number of options to look at the best split of the schools and it is the preference to look to have two sponsors; one for Widecombe-in-the-Moor Primary School, Ilsington Church of England Primary School Academy and Moretonhampstead Primary School; and a second sponsor for Ashburton Primary School, Buckfastleigh Primary School, South Dartmoor Community College and Atrium Studio School.
This process is being led by the Office of the Regional Schools Commissioner for the South West (RSC SW), part of the DfE. If you have any queries or would like to make a representation regarding this, you can email RSC-SW.HTB@education.gov.uk from Monday 7th October until five working days before a final decision. This is due to be taken at the meeting of the RSC SW’s Head Teacher Board on 21st October. Emails will not be responded to but I am assured that all will be considered. The draft agenda for the meeting will be published here on Monday: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/south-west-england-headteacher-board.
There will be a further update once the decision is taken on 21st October. It is expected that the schools will join their respective new trusts in the first part of 2020, following a period of due diligence by the incoming trusts.
